Sermon: God is in charge

August 15, 2011 Leave a comment

Yesterday, we heard a sermon from a guest speaker at MBC, and I was very blessed by his words. It was like he was saying everything I wanted to say. The main point of the message? God is in charge. Who are we—the clay to the almighty potter—to question Him and to think ourselves to be wiser? It sounds ridiculous to say we know better than God, but in real life, doesn’t it seem like we have that attitude sometimes?

It’s not a popular message, especially to us Americans with our sense of entitlement and our snobbery, but it’s the truth.

In Isaiah 55:8-9, God reminds us:

8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
            declares the LORD.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
